Speaker Bio
Kim Silander is an aviation specialist with more than 25 years of experience in the sector. He is recognized as a leading expert in drone operations and airspace integration, with a strong focus on enabling societal services such as law enforcement, rescue, and firefighting.
He is currently engaged in several Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) initiatives exploring how 3GPP and 5G technologies can support safe and scalable drone operations. Projects such as Vertiport5G and INTI5 (Ionosphere, Navigation and Time Integrity via 5G) examine how existing 3GPP and EASA standards can be applied—and where they may need to evolve—to meet emerging operational needs.
As founder of Advanced Air Mobility AAM AB, a spin-off from Independent Business Group Sweden AB, Kim leads efforts to make Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations viable by addressing today’s regulatory and operational constraints. Through Kookiejar of Sweden AB, he is developing modular Vertiport solutions that lower infrastructure costs and enable future air-taxi and drone services. His current projects demonstrate how BVLOS drone operations can be safely integrated within existing aviation frameworks, enabling real-time aerial surveillance, thermal imaging, and high-resolution mapping—providing scalable and cost-effective support for public safety and emergency response.
