Nabta Health, Founder and CEO
Speaker Bio
Sophie Smith is the Founder and CEO of NABTA Health, the Middle East’s leading women’s health technology company. Inspired by the early loss of her grandmother, Rixa, and by her own experience of moving to the region while pregnant, Sophie founded NABTA in 2017 with the conviction that women everywhere deserve timely, dignified care.
A Cambridge History graduate with an MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology, Sophie began her career at Accenture before co-founding impact ventures in Pakistan and Sierra Leone. Her entrepreneurial journey reflects a consistent mission: using business to drive systemic change in underserved communities.
Under her leadership, NABTA has grown into a disruptive AI-powered, vertically integrated ecosystem for women’s health in the Middle East and Africa, combining hybrid care with culturally attuned design to deliver preventive care to women at scale.
Today, NABTA serves thousands of women across the GCC, tackling the stark reality that women are still diagnosed with chronic conditions up to four times later than men.
In 2025, NABTA was recognised by TIME Magazine as one of the world’s Top HealthTech Companies, cementing its reputation as a category-defining innovator. Sophie is recognised globally as a leading voice on women’s health innovation, equity, and sovereignty.
