Martin Kon is President Emeritus & Strategic Advisor at Cohere and a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Cohere is the leading independent, data-security-focused enterprise AI company, with offices in Toronto, Montreal, San Francisco, New York, London, Paris, and Seoul.
Previously, as President & COO, Martin built and led Cohere’s strategic, commercial, financial, and operational functions as it evolved from its bold and pioneering research roots into the world’s leading Secure AI for Enterprise company — now over $150 million revenue, valued at over $7 billion, and continuing to grow at an exceptional pace. Cohere's AI technology powers some of the world’s most respected enterprises — including Fujitsu, Oracle, SAP, Bell, RBC, TD, STC, Dell, and LG — and is backed by world-class investors such as NVIDIA, AMD, Salesforce Ventures, Radical Ventures, Index Ventures, Inovia Capital, Magnetar Capital, PSP Investments, CPPIB, and HOOPP.
Before joining Cohere, Martin served as CFO (Business Finance Officer) of YouTube, reporting to both Google/Alphabet’s Corporate CFO and YouTube’s CEO. He oversaw global strategy, finance, business operations, and data analytics with teams in the SF Bay Area, NYC, LA, London, and Singapore. In 2023, YouTube generated $40 billion in revenue, reached 2 billion users in nearly 100 countries, and had over 85 million Music + Premium and TV subscribers, with 2 million creators earning on the platform. Earlier in his career, Martin was a Senior Partner & Managing Director at BCG in the Technology, Media & Telecom practice, and a Partner at Oliver Wyman (formerly Mercer Management Consulting), where he co-led the Global TMT practice and headed the New York office.
A citizen of the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Germany, Martin has lived and worked in London, Los Angeles, Munich, New York, San Francisco, and Toronto, beginning his career across Germany and Spain.
