Speaker Bio

Jameel Asghar is Chief People Officer at VEON. He has more than 20 years of experience in the Telco and Technology arenas. Following a number of roles across South Asia, Middle East and Africa including appointments at Ericsson and Nokia, he joined VEON in 2016 as Chief People Officer of Jazz. Jameel later in 2018 became the People Director at VEON HQ in Amsterdam and subsequently led the People function for VEON Ventures before his current appointment to the Group Head of People for the global VEON businesses in 2023. He holds a BA in Law, an MBA, and is a Wharton CHRO program graduate. Jameel’s team describe him as both as a strategic and pragmatic global HR leader who approaches his role with an equal measure of confidence and humility
