Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo
Ooredoo Group Chief Executive Officer
Aziz was appointed Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer in November 2020. He has been a Board member of Ooredoo Group since 2011, spearheading the company’s operations across 10 countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia. Since his appointment, Aziz has driven Ooredoo’s evolution into a leader in digital innovation and connectivity.
Since his appointment, Aziz spearheaded some of the biggest deals in the history of the company, including the successful merger of Indosat Ooredoo with CK Hutchison, creating Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), and the signing of definitive agreements with Zain Group and TASC Towers Holding to create the largest tower company in the MENA region.
With a distinguished career that includes serving as Deputy Undersecretary for Budget, Treasury, and Financial Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Finance, and Co-head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Qatar Investment Authority, Aziz brings unparalleled expertise in finance and governance.
As a visionary leader, he served on boards of globally respected organizations like Accor SA, Katara Hospitality, Qatar Museums and he still serves on Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Board of Commissioners, and GSMA Foundation.
Aziz holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from ESLSCA University and is redefining the future of telecommunications with a commitment to community impact and sustainability.
