Founder and Director, Eonetics, CEO, XM2 Group
Speaker Bio
Stephen Oh is Founder and Director of Eonetics (formerly XM2 Earth), which develops tethered drone systems delivering live aerial video and Cell on Wings mobile coverage for emergency response, showcased on the GSMA Pavilion at MWC Doha 2026. He is also CEO of XM2 Group, which he founded in 1999. In 2013 he and the XM2 team developed the world’s first fully physically stabilised 25 kg drone and gimbal package for Hollywood, and have since built drones and camera technology for specific applications across film, most notably on Mission: Impossible 7 (Dead Reckoning). For the film’s motorbike cliff jump in Norway, XM2 further developed its Tango drone to carry a full 40 kg camera package, outrun Tom Cruise on his modified motorbike, withstand the massive updrafts off the cliff face and operate in extreme cold and wet conditions, running the main cameras on the stunt. Hollywood gives you weeks, not months or years, to develop new technology, and it has to work first time with no second chance. Stephen brought that discipline to telecommunications when he heard the challenges a major US telco was facing, saw the potential for a tethered drone solution, and developed it in three weeks. He now applies the same approach across the industrial, telecommunications and defence sectors. He began his film career in 1995 and spoke at the MWC26 Barcelona Smart Mobility Summit.
