Speaker Bio
Dr. Ahmed Al-Shafei is an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Qatar University, and the Head of Technology Innovation and Engineering Education (TIEE). At TIEE, he oversees the College’s General Engineering and multidisciplinary capstone programs, as well as its industry partnerships. His research applies large-scale optimization and high-performance computing to long-term power system planning under uncertainty. Before academia, he spent several years as a Senior Electrical Engineer with QatarEnergy on an offshore production platform, which directly inspired his drive to ground his research in real-world applicability.
